In normal operations, CounterCentral records your visitors' IPs. An IP does not tie the visit to a natural person, however it is considered 'personal information' under GDPR. For that reason we give you the possibility to anonymize all IPs recorded under your account.
When an IP is anonymized, we remove the last part of the IP, so for instance 255.123.201.023 becomes 255.123.201.XXX. This makes the geo-localization of your visitors a bit less precise, otherwise it has no major impact on the quality of your tracking. As a result, we encourage our users with European customers to anonymize their IP collection to ensure compliance with the GDPR rules.
